Allow me to introduce myself.....

Hey There!

So for today's blog, I thought I would give you a little insight to ME and share a little of my journey to becoming Events with Ambiance!

My journey to becoming an Event Planner dates back to my childhood, assisting my mother with planning and executing parties at our home and for my dad's fraternity. I was training to be a professional dancer at the time, so I never thought about being a "Party Planner", it was just fun for me to help her.

After a fabulous and exciting dance career that spanned 20 plus years, I began working as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in downtown Chicago. Because of my excitement for our studio events and knack for organizing parties, I was soon promoted to Guest Director. This position allowed me to see that Marketing and Event Management was something I enjoyed, and it was then I realized this could be my next career move!

I spent the next two years learning as much as I could about the Event Industry, including an internship with Desiree Moore Dent, Owner of Dejanae Events, and studying Wedding and Event Planning and Design through Lovegevity's Wedding Planning Institute. This is how I learned more about the business side of running your own business, which was invaluable information! During this time, I offered my services to family and friends for any event they may have been having

In May of 2013, I decided to get my business license and launch Events with Ambiance. It has truly been eye opening that I am now an entrepreneur, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I am blessed to have family and friends support me, my company has truly become a Family Business!!

So, that's me in a nutshell! I am working on posting some more "Vendor Spotlight" posts in the future, so be sure to look out for those.

Party Ideas for your school age child!

Last month, I had the honor of planning a Rock star themed birthday party for a fabulous five year old at the Kidswork Children's Museum in Frankfort, IL and it was amazing!

The cake....
Imagine Theater was definitely the highlight for the kids!
Every rockstar needs their own "step and repeat"!

So this got me to thinking..... what a genius idea, host your child's birthday party at a museum designed specifically for them! All of these locations have a private party room and also allows guests access to the facility so the children ( and adults) can explore and create to their hearts desire!
This idea works best for your school aged child, and with so many activities for them, you never have to worry about party activities!

Here are a few of my favorite museums:

Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier

Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview, IL

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago

Make sure you check with the specific museum you are interested in regarding outside food, drink and decorations, most, if not all allow outside food and drink in the party rooms.
